The tag team is back!

It had been a month since Keahi and Noelani had arrived at the Sanctuary and Aukai had been enjoying their company a great deal, in fact he had almost completely forgotten all about the Ancient Beast battles that he had taken part in, though he would never forget about Grim, that was of course up until the day, Keahi and Maka Koa came to his enclosure.
“What is it?” Kai asked, sensing the excitement oozing from the other Asotu.
“A Beast has been spotted in the grasslands.”
“Not again!” Kai said, frustrated.
“I’m afraid so.”
As the two Asotus talked, Kai felt Mak putting on his collar and new shoulder guard before mounting up. “Any word on Grim?” He asked Ahi.
“Who’s Grim?”
“An Asotu buddy who fought beside me during the attack of the Keleken.”
“Oh, I don’t know. Mak’s not said anything but that doesn’t mean much as the humans don’t always tell us everything.”
Kai nodded in agreement and Mak nudged him forward to leave the Sanctuary. He could hear Ahi following behind.

On their way to the grasslands, Kai picked up a familiar scent. “Grim!” He called. “Glad you could join us!”
“Are you kidding? We wouldn’t miss it for the world! Who’s the new guy?”
“Grim, Keahi; Keahi, Grim.” Kai called over the introductions.
After their greetings, the Asotus remained silent, preparing themselves for the challenge ahead. Kai had the feeling that this was going to be an even tougher challenge than the two previous battles.

The Asotus came to a halt, their handlers dismounting quickly.
“Tell me what you see.” Kai called.
“It’s an alligator; a giant alligator!” Grim shouted back. “And it’s minions are Namazu; koi-dragon-type things.”
“Alright, no hanging about boys, let’s get to it!” Kai ordered. He sensed the other two take up positions either side of him and they ran forwards straight at the giant gator’s legs.
As they had done with the bird that had attacked the island previously, Grim and Kai clamped down on its leg, Ahi accompanying them. The beast roared in pain and snapped it’s jaws, the sound reverberating through the Asotus bodies.
It thrashed and dislodged the trio but before they could take hold again, one of the Namazu sailed in and attacked them.
Ahi jumped round and snapped onto its tail. He brought it down to the ground where Grim and Kai delivered their fatal blows, ripping it in two.
“Back to the beast!” Grim yelled and led the attack.
Kai followed, his nose working overtime to tell him where he was going, keeping close tabs on Ahi and Grim.

Handlers POV:

Word had come through to the Sanctuary that another beast had been spotted, this time in the grasslands. It was called a Puru, a giant alligator type creature.
Mak was tempted to only take Keahi and leave Aukai behind, the blind boy having already tackled two beasts but it was for that exact reason he knew that it would be better if he took him too.
Ahi had shown real potential, always being focused on the task at hand and as such, Mak knew that he would be a great asset to taking on the Puru. He got the red wolf patterned male from his enclosure and walked him down to Kai’s. He led him in so that he could put Kai’s whalebone collar and shoulder guard on him. He then mounted up onto the blind boy and they headed out of the Sanctuary, making sure that Ahi was keeping close.
On their way, Mak, Kai and Ahi were joined by Void and Grim.
“Ready to go again?” Mak called to Void.
She raised her bow in response, “More than you know!”
The two handlers and three Asotus charged into the grasslands; Mak and Void leaping from their mounts backs so that they too could join in the fight.
Mak pulled his bow from his back and took a set of arrows from their quiver, Void doing the same. They took aim at the nearest Namazu and let their arrows fly, bringing it down.
Knowing how well the Asotus could handle themselves during these battles, Void and Mak continued on, doing what they needed to do to help bring down the beast.
